Wear ORANGE. Get there EARLY. Be LOUD.
History of Wearing Orange:
In the late 1990’s Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips made it a priority to get his staff and fans in orange. When Phillips became our head AD in 1995, he noticed fans rarely wore orange and started preaching “Wear Orange, show your true colors, and show your school spirit”. He even started posting signs in elevators and around the facilities stating “Next time I’ll wear Orange!”
With continued success among the basketball team and growing success on the football field, the OSU faithful continued to show their true colors on game days. It’s believed that the Sea of Orange fan base was tabbed after an estimated 30,000 Cowboy fans traveled to the 2002 Houston Bowl.
Since then the Loyal and True fan base has made a tradition of wearing America’s Brightest Orange on game days. The Season of Orange is focused on remembering that tradition and showing the rest of the country our true colors. Cowboy fans be sure to get your favorite OSU gear and show the meaning of Orange Power this season!
